The Principal Madrid, a 5-star luxury property on Madrid’s Gran Vía, is owned by Único Hotels, a collection of luxury independent hotels in Madrid, Barcelona, Mallorca and the Costa Brava.
Nestled in the heart of Madrid, the 76-suite Principal Madrid sits amid the hustle and bustle of Madrid’s Gran Via, an avenue lined with upscale shops, restaurants, and local businesses, but guests at The Principal Madrid can still enjoy a quiet yoga session enjoying amidst lush greenery, native greenery; exceptional views of Madrid in the morning; and craft cocktails at night at La Terraza, the hotel’s rooftop bar.

Known for its avant-garde gastronomy and classic cocktails, the property’s cuisine brings together a diverse and informal space that combines the best aspects of a modern club with the glamor of hotels of yesteryear, framed by the original architectural details of the original 1917 building .
Perhaps the main appeal of the hotel is the unparalleled view from the rooms, which offers guests a 360-degree, bird’s-eye view of the entire city, including some of its most emblematic buildings that form the city’s distinctive skyline.
Its location is also unique and incomparable. Steps away from some of the most famous attractions such as Puerta del Sol, Círculo de Bellas Artes, Cibeles Fountain and Puerta de Alcalá. Other nearby attractions include the city’s top museums and art galleries, including the Prado, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía and Caixa Forum.

Two elegant yet relaxed dining areas are the beating heart of the hotel and offer exceptional views over the capital. Both culinary areas are landscaped with parterre plants and share the sky with Hellenic guardians, the “Winged Victory” crowning the metropolis and the domes that characterize the Madrid skyline.
The restaurants create a perfect setting to enjoy a cocktail or sample something from the menu curated by Ramón Freixa, chef with two Michelin stars. There’s even a solarium for sunbathing with a curved stainless steel water sculpture.
In addition, The Principal has a gym and private function rooms, the latter with its own separate entrance accessible from Gran Vía 2, suitable for conference delegates and non-guests arriving for private dining.

The Principal Madrid also provides guests with a private car with seating for six and a roof lining. In colder weather, private cars are the ideal means of getting around town or for transfers from the airport or train station.
The adjacent trendy Las Salesas area is great for walking as it represents the contemporary way of life in Madrid and offers a hipster vibe with enticing boutiques, enticing restaurants and bars open until late. With three of the trendiest neighborhoods nearby — Huertas, Chueca, and Malasaña — visitors love to spend time strolling the streets visiting galleries, sitting at cafes, and people-watching.
