“It is currently not clear whether the allegations made in an anonymous letter are true,” Adidas said in a statement. “However, we take these allegations very seriously and have made the decision to immediately launch an independent investigation into the matter to resolve the allegations.”
In Rolling Stone’s report, released on Tuesday, former employees who worked with fashion brand Ye’s Yeezy accused the rapper of disrupting workplace behavior that they said Adidas leadership didn’t want to address. The magazine said it interviewed more than two dozen former Yeezy and Adidas employees.
These individuals alleged that Ye had exhibited provocative, intimidating, and sexualized behavior toward employees, particularly women, over the course of a decade. Former employees claimed that Ye, among other incidents, played porn at staff meetings and showed potential and existing team members explicit video and photos of Kim Kardashian, as well as his own sex tapes. Ye and Kardashian married in 2014 and filed for divorce early last year.
Several former senior employees reportedly sent Adidas executives a letter on Tuesday calling for action by the company’s management, which they accused of ignoring Yes’s “predatory behavior towards women” and the “toxic and chaotic environment” he created.
Adidas, which was under pressure to cut ties with the designer after several incidents of hate speech, ended its partnership with Ye last month.
Ye has also been dropped by most of his other professional partners, including his talent agency and other brands like Balenciaga and Gap.
