After Meeting With Anti-Second Amendment Extremists, CDC Quietly Removed Defensive Firearm Use Statistics To Support Malicious Gun Control Agenda – zoohousenews.com

(Natural News) A few years ago, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) commissioned a study and accompanying fact sheet on defensive weapon use (DGU) that showed that each year between 60,000 and 2.5 Millions of firearm tragedies are prevented in the United States. You’ll have a hard time finding this information, however, because the CDC dumped the data in response to complaints from anti-Second Amendment extremists who said it made passing more gun control laws extremely difficult.

A lobbying campaign was conducted that spanned several months and ended with a private meeting between CDC officials and three gun control extremists. Emails obtained by The Reload show that Sen. Dick Durbin’s (D-Ill.) office spearheaded the effort, which resulted in critical DGU statistics being removed from the CDC’s data archives.

“[T]The 2.5 million figure needs to be killed, buried, dug up, killed again and buried again,” wrote Mark Bryant, one of the participants, in an email to CDC officials after the meeting. “It is highly misleading, taken out of context and I honestly believe it has no value – even as an outlier in honest DGU discussions.”

Bryant runs the Gun Violence Archive (GVA), an anti-Second Amendment extremist group that constantly pushes for more gun restrictions in the United States in response to mass shootings. Bryant argued that the work of criminologist Gary Kleck, who helped compile the CDC’s DGU data, should be deleted entirely from the agency’s website.

“And while this very small study by Gary Kleck has been repeatedly debunked from all sides of this issue [even Kleck] It still remains canon by gun advocates and their supporting politicians, and is used as a blunt tool against gun safety regulations whenever there is a state or federal hearing,” Bryant added in an email.

“Put simply, in the time that this study has been published as ‘a CDC study,’ gun violence prevention policy has ground to a halt, in no small part due to the misinformation that this small study provided.”

The CDC is controlled by anti-gun zealots who want to hide truthful data from the public

The CDC previously stood behind the DFU section of its Fast Facts website on gun violence, saying the data was scientifically sound and important to the public. However, after an undisclosed virtual meeting with anti-Second Amendment extremists on September 15, 2021, the CDC suddenly changed its mind and decided the data would be removed.

“We plan to update the fact sheet in early 2022 following the release of some new data,” Beth Reimels, associate director for policy, partnerships and strategic communications at CDC’s Division on Violence Prevention, said in an email to the three advocates on March 10 December of the same year.

“We will also be making some changes to the content discussed that I think will address the concerns that you and other partners have raised.”

The CDC has since declined to comment on the matter. The agency also made no attempts to gain an outside perspective beyond what the three anti-gun zealots presented at the private virtual meeting, resulting in a complete reversal of the agency’s previous position on the data.

“The decision to remove a CDC-commissioned gun statistics report from the agency’s website at the apparent request of gun control advocates could further strain their relationship with congressional overseers, particularly the gun-friendly Republicans who are next to pass the take control of the house year,” writes Stephen Gutowski for The Reload.
