The film received mostly positive to mediocre reviews. Helen O’Hara of Empire gave it four stars: “This is a slow-burning drama, almost a thriller, anchored by a flawless performance from Kendrick and punctuated by a quietly monstrous twist from Carrick as a man who thinks he’s perfectly sane . But it is ultimately the warmth of Mosaku and Horn that is remembered as the women who wake Alice up and stand with her against the ever-present specter of male violence.”
