The 57-year-old actor, who starred in the original show from 1999 to 2004 and also in the following two films, returned to the show last month as husband Miranda Hobbs, who viewers now learn uses hearing aids.

While discussing Steve and David’s hearing, writer Elisa Zoretsky told Vanity Fair: ‘When [showrunner] Michael Patrick reconnected with David about the show, and the first thing David said was “I received a hearing aid.” It was literally what drove him.
