Big Daddy Kane is starring in a theatrical production of ‘New Jack City’ – which he says is on tour right now… and will be welcoming the director of the cult classic in due course.
We caught up with the rap legend in New York this week… where our photographer spoke to BDK about Je’Carious Johnson’s ‘NJC Live on Stage’ – a Broadway-esque bit that has brought the film to life in front of audiences all these years later.
Waiting for your permission to load the Facebook video.
Check out the clip because Kane has some cool insights for us – including actor Allen Payne (who played Gee Money on the OG) reprising his role in this new cast!
Not only that, but Kane says Mario Van Peebles — who directed and also starred in New Jack City as a cop bent on taking down Wesley Snipes’ operation — will be coming to see the The show to watch when they get there is coming to LA’s Orpheum Theater in late January.
The reason for this is significant – aside from the fact that it’s awesome to host MVP in the first place – because Big Daddy actually plays his character from the movie… AKA, Stone. Kane says Mario is stopping by to take it all in and maybe give him some notes on the performance.
One has to wonder if Wesley got wind of the piece himself and if he’s curious to take a look. As far as we can tell, he hasn’t said anything about it on social media so far.
New Jack City is in town January 20-22 and tickets are on sale now.
