No, Ali Wong’s new Netflix series Beef isn’t about burgers (it’s about two people who are consumed by a traffic incident and can’t seem to move on). As we chatted shortly after the show ended, Wong shared her favorite quick meal hack, her choice of New York pizza, and the stunning garden where she would host her ideal meetup

Before we get to your dream dinner party, I would like to ask you where do you have dinner before or after a comedy show in NYC?
I have to eat at Xi’an Famous Foods every time I’m in town. I also love Artichoke Basille’s Pizza and Blue Ribbon Sushi.

What about Beef after a hard day of shooting? What’s your go-to quick meal?
When I’m home, it’s GreeNoodle, that kind of healthy ramen. I add corn from the freezer, some spinach, toss in an egg and open a can of spicy sardines.

Now for the dream dinner party. Who gets the invitation?
Lee Sung Jin, the showrunner and creator of Beef, Steven Yeun, my co-star, and Jake Schreier, who directed six of the ten episodes. We were so busy making the show that we didn’t get to hang out much outside of the recording sessions, other than the occasional Korean barbecue dinner. i miss her Well, if it’s my dream meal, it’s these three.

Where do you do that? What’s the mood?
We eat at a round table – I love a round table – in the Chinese Garden at The Huntington in Pasadena, California, in one of the gazebos overlooking the lake. If it’s my dream meal and I’m not paying for it, it would be the tasting menu from [LA restaurant] n/naka. Everything Chef Niki Nakayama makes is so good. I mean these spaghetti with abalone! Then we have Morimoto Las Vegas’ Coconut Mango Dessert. The dishes would be Tory Burch. i love her line.

What are you talking about?
Our private life. Jake and I are single, so I’m sure we’d talk about dating. What we ate and did. How we try to stay healthy.

If you had to invite a comedian who would it be?
Stay away Chris Rock. Talking to him is like a TED talk. The most funniest. He is probably the wisest and most insightful person I have ever met in my life. I always listen to his every word, so I would like to invite him to dinner with my three close friends.
