The internet has been trending good old George Clooney amid speculation that he would return as the Caped Crusader in James Gunn’s DC Universe…but the mastermind himself says it’s BS.
The director and now co-head of DC has slammed a rumor that’s been gaining momentum in recent days… namely, the notion that George could potentially come back and reprise his role as Batman in the new ‘Batman’ movie that was recently announced became.
Absolutely not.

On Saturday, Gunn responded to a fan who asked him directly if it was true he would be casting GC in the flick Brave and the Bold… which stars a much older Batman (and his son Robin).
When someone pressed for more details — and asked if there was any truth to the idea that he’d be casting an actor who’d previously played Batman, period — Gunn again flatly denied it … saying they were going in a whole new direction directing with a whole new actor.
New actor.

The reason this leaked in the first place was because a film journalist claimed to know what DC’s hopes were when it came to who they wanted under the hood in their latest franchise reboot…suggesting that it was either Clooney, Val Kilmer or was Christian Bale and that that person might even appear in the new ‘Flash’ flick out this year.
She said she knew who the studio wanted – noting that there was no deal yet – but refused to identify the alleged favorite in the back of her mind… and Twitter took care of the rest, making all 3 trends.

I hear it will be an alumni #Batman who cameos in the end #The Lightning
& could potentially persist as a new permanent #DCU Batman

Considering plans for this new Bat-movie were revealed literally just a week or so ago, it’s safe to say… nobody gets cast until they’re cast – so it’s probably best to just wait until this one Film actually goes into production before he dives headfirst into conjecture.
Clooney, meanwhile, is busy at work with his good pal Brad Pitt… in another movie, no less.
