Kanye West admitted hitting a fan wanting to sign him during a massive brawl earlier this week.
Kanye, 44, said he was outside a Soho warehouse in West Hollywood, Los Angeles, at 3 a.m. when he was provoked by Justin Poplowski, 40, who West said he had been following for days wanting an autograph.
“I’m saying, ‘You don’t know what I’m dealing with right now,'” West told Entertainment Tonight, referring to footage of him snapping Poplawski.
“I just finished those two songs, I came from the studio, and this guy, he had this real attitude, like, ‘What are you going to do?'” and see it?
“Emma just telling you, the blue Covid mask doesn’t stop the knockout, you know what I’m saying?”
The rapper, also known as Ye, said he was upset at the time with his estranged wife Kim Kardashian, who is currently dating Pete Davidson, and about his cousin who failed to tell Kardashian he wanted to visit one of their children at school.
“Security will not come between me and my children. And my children will not be on TikTok without my permission,” Kanye said.

West also admitted that he was upset about Kardashian’s romance with Davidson.
“How are you going to blame me for acting and kissing the guy who’s dating right in front of me. Everyone is like, ‘That’s cool,’ and I heard the new boyfriend is in the house and I can’t even go to him.”
“This is from a horse’s mouth. I told you all before, you are not fit to be responsible for my narrative,” West told Jason Lee of Entertainment Tonight.
“I told you before, I’m taking my novel. I’m writing my story. Why don’t you all go do something, you know what I mean, other than try to bring someone down.”
Also, West claimed that Poplawski was not a fan but someone trying to make a profit by selling autographs he got from the rapper on January 10.
West said, “This is the same paparazzi, this is not a fan. This is someone who uses your photo, and has probably never listened to your songs.”
The alleged victim Poblawski, 40, of St. Louis, Missouri but now believed to be living in Illinois, was filmed earlier in the night behind Kanye and his new godfather Julia Fox.
Celebrity fans have been collecting autographs for over 25 years.
He has dozens of selfies taken with celebrities and VIPs over the years including Leonardo DiCaprio, Taylor Swift, Barack Obama and Adele.
“I don’t have a comment at the moment, not at the moment,” Poplawski told The Sun. “I still have other things to take care of. For now, I’m just trying to live life and go home.”
His profile on the Real Autograph Collectors Club states that collecting celebrity autographs has been his hobby since 1996.
He appears to be running his own celebrity signature business called All-Star Signatures LLC.
Thursday’s incident reportedly came after Poblawski asked Kanye for his second autograph after he approached him for the first time outside of Delilah.
Kanye was at the popular West Hollywood nightclub with Julia Fox, 31, before moving to Soho Warehouse alone, whereby Justin approached him again according to Page Six.
The couple are said to have exchanged words, which are currently under police investigation, before the rapper jumped out of his car, called Asma Justin and then punched him on the floor.
Video of the incident shows Kanye yelling at a member of his team while the alleged victim is lying on the ground.
He could be heard shouting “get away from me” to which the employee replied, “give me your hand.”
Kanye reportedly left before officials arrived at the scene, where a police report was filed.
It is not known if he has spoken to the police about his side of the story yet.
Justin allegedly recorded the encounter on his phone, which was shown to the police and will be included in the investigation.
According to TMZ, he was said to have refused medical treatment after the accident.
Los Angeles police said West was a suspect in the battery report after the incident, but no arrests have been made so far.
