BOSTON (AP) – Federal prosecutors have charged a Texas man with threatening a Boston doctor who cares for transgender children.
Matthew Jordan Lindner, 38, of Comfort, Texas, faces charges of transmitting interstate threats. He was arrested by the FBI in Texas on Friday and is scheduled to appear in federal court in Massachusetts at a later date.
Authorities say the doctor concerned works for a Boston-based national LGBTQ health education center. In August, Jordan allegedly called the center and left a profane and threatening voice message, saying a group of people were coming to see the doctor.
US Attorney Rachael Rollins of Massachusetts said that while the threat targeted a specific doctor, LGBTQ people and their families were also targeted.
It was unclear on Saturday whether Lindner would be represented by a lawyer. A message left by Lindner on Saturday was not returned immediately.
