Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves’ love story is more than fine
When asked what finally made him get married, McConaughey told GQ in 2014, “I had to get to the point where I saw it as more than just the right thing to do. I really wanted to want it. “I don’t want it to be a destination. The fun part is that we’re on the adventure together. So I’ve been spending a lot of time with her. We’ve talked about it spiritually. We’ve read a lot and talked to a lot of people about it.” were divorced, many people who were happily married. We spoke to our pastor. In the end our understanding was: Let’s make a covenant with you, me and God. And let us understand that this is not a covenant goal, this is the beginning of an adventure that we undertake together.
“As soon as that clicked for me and I didn’t have to intellectualize anymore, I started to feel the excitement. My own definition of the freedom I wanted was thrown right back at me, possibly in a much bigger way. “
So if anyone had the impression that he had made this decision lightly, he would be greatly mistaken. And of course Alves wanted to get married.
“She had to go, ‘Come on, big boy, Mr. Easygoing-we’ll-get-to-when-we-get-to. It’s either shit or get out of the pot,'” McConaughey admitted.
Of course, Alves didn’t remember it that way. She told Access Hollywood after the wedding, “I think it’s something that we’ve evolved into. I was never the girl who grew up and said I wanted to get married. I actually told my parents not to expect me to get married.” Once they were married, Alves continued, “The most important thing for me is to make sure our home is peaceful, that it’s healthy, that it’s the children are fine. I didn’t know how important it is [getting married] was, and how really special it was until I went through the ceremony.”
Regardless, neither Mr. nor Mrs. McConaughey ever looked back.
