Thousands of people protested for a second night in central Paris after President Emmanuel Macron decided to push through pension age changes without a vote in Parliament.

Some protesters clashed with riot police, who arrested several people.

The reform raises the state pension age in France by two years to 64, which Macron says is necessary to keep the French pension system viable. The change is bitterly opposed by the unions.
