Steve Harvey is wrong about cancel culture — it’s time to defund the joke police

the newYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Steve Harvey says he stopped offering stand-up comedy because the genre died in the era of cancellation culture. Now he’s right that some people can’t take a joke, and I’ll admit that the language police have made life hell for comics. Where I come from in New York, you can’t even call a pervert a pervert anymore.

You have to call them “Governor Cuomo”.

Steve Harvey Says He Canceled The Culture He Stopped Doing On Standby: “Political Correctness Killed Comedy”

As for the Family Feud host’s decision to succumb to the angry mob, “Survey Says” is completely wrong.

Comedy isn’t dead due to cancellation culture, but it’s dying because of big-name comics like Steve Harvey who won’t champion the art form in their time of greatest need.

Here is the need:

Comedians tell jokes to escape the agony of existence while consuming two overpriced, diluted drinks.

An angry mob wants to stop these comics from making a living if one joke goes too far.

I’m sorry, but who’s the villain here?

Yes, jokes sometimes cross the line, but that doesn’t make them a hate crime or a call to arms against their point of contact, nor should it be a reason for a professional death sentence.

Comedy is meant to be treated like a buffet. I see you a joke that you like, throw it on your stairs.

Don’t like a certain joke? Keep walking, don’t worry, we all get our own stairs.

Somewhere in this age of motivating anger, we have lost touch with that basic truth and become the only mediating situation where people who don’t do it for a living begin to define the rules of engagement for people who do.

Comedy is meant to be treated like a buffet. I see you a joke that you like, throw it on your stairs. Don’t like a certain joke? Keep walking, don’t worry, we all get our own stairs.

Think about it: Dentists don’t decide how to extract a tooth based on the angry opinions of people who are killing time on Twitter in the waiting room.

However, comedy somehow cedes creative control to people who would not have the courage to immerse themselves in the vulnerability that is a live performance.

One of the main reasons men like Steve Harvey encourage mobs by agreeing to play the game on their terms is because, as Harvey said, there’s a lot to lose:

“The only way I can make another special one is for it to be at the end of my TV career because it’s going to end my TV career,” Harvey said (via Variety). “We’re in a culture of cancellation now. No situation standing under the leadership of a sponsor can say anything they want. Chris Rock can’t. Kevin Hart can’t. Cedric the Entertainer can’t. D.L. Hughley can’t. I can go down the list. The only one. The one who can say what they want to say on stage is Dave Chappelle because he’s not driven by sponsors. He’s subscription driven.”

He praised Dave Chapel for “not bending over” in response to the gender feud: “Leave the man alone!”

Harvey was referring to the backlash that Chappelle survived after he joked about the transgender community in his latest Netflix special, “The Closer.”

What Harvey doesn’t realize is that Chappelle didn’t stand up to the angry mob because he was “driven by subscription.” He survived because he stood up to them and they loved him for it.

Yes, they will always be “someone” who gets upset over a joke but there will always be road More people who wouldn’t.

Dave Chappelle gives voice to comics fans who are tired of being held hostage by this tyranny of the minority.

Criticism piles up on NEFLIX CEO after saying he ‘discontinued’ DAVE CHAPPELLE SHOW DEFENSE

He realized that most people are tired of blackmail and would rather attract the funny guy than the miserable keyboard warrior trying to destroy him.

Yes, it would be a bang, but most people are indifferent at this point, mainly because we’ve had more cancellations in the past five years than Kathy Griffin can rock a fake plastic head.

but enough she has Face.

Steve Harvey doesn’t have to roll the dice standing still because he hosts two TV game shows and doesn’t need the money.

know who does?

The comedian who drives a Honda Accord 91 for four hours to a party in upstate New York tonight so he can make $100, $50 of which will be wiped out due to exorbitant gas prices.

But if you think the pay is disappointing, you should see the studio apartment he’s in at home. And while you’re there be sure to meet all seven of his roommates.

Most were comedians who quit because work dried up after comedy hit Crimson at the height of an era of outrage that left many action centers slacking off like Steve Harvey.

These comics didn’t have the luxury of building jobs at the same time, “Sticks and stones will break my bones but names will never hurt me” Scientist Steve Harvey.

But it’s not too late for them to get it back if more comedians follow Chappelle’s lead and break up the joke police.

Steve Harvey is richer than I understand.

Not that I was good with money. The last time my identity was stolen, my credit score increased by 42 points.

But as you’re reading this, it’s possible that he’s on the set of a TV show wearing a custom suit with a higher thread count than Hunter Biden.

When it’s finished, it will be taken home in a car that costs more than your home.

Hopefully his mind goes back to the Honda Accord comedians, who don’t have the luxury of quitting standing still, but could make society resign for them.

This is the most offensive joke ever.
