“It felt like an American story, there’s an important message as well as an investigation into who Nan Goldin is and in the US this news is big so I can understand why it struck a chord with Julianne Moore who was leading could hit the jury at this year’s Venice Film Festival and just go down well with audiences in the US in general. I agree that an American theme helps draw you into the awards talk—but after all, the Oscars are the American Academy Awards.
