A new era of luxury dawns in 2026 as plans for the first Orient Express ship have been announced.

140 years after the launch of its trains, the Orient Express has unveiled the future of its heritage – the Orient Express Silenseas. The ship’s announcement marks a major development in the first-class travel industry at a time when cruise popularity is at an all-time high; with all the trends that suggest this is only going to continue.

The Orient Express Silenseas will feature 54 suites as well as swimming pools, restaurants and a theatre.

As part of the project, French shipbuilders Chantiers de l’Atlantique and Accor are teaming up to build a vessel like no other, powered by a revolutionary 1,500 square meter wind propulsion system and a hybrid propulsion system running on liquefied natural gas.

Itineraries and interiors are inspired by the golden age of the French Riviera, when this stretch of coast hosted writers, artists, royalty and intellectuals inspired by the shores they encountered.

The 220 meter long boat will have 54 suites with an average of 70 square meters. However, the jewel in the crown and undoubtedly the most desirable suite will be the 1,215 square foot Presidential Suite with an expansive private terrace overlooking the waves.

Lucky travelers can lounge by two swimming pools, savor seasonal fare at two restaurants and sip masterful cocktails at a speakeasy bar. Sophisticated entertainment is offered in a state-of-the-art amphitheater. There will even be a private recording studio.

In addition to the sails, the Orient Express yacht will feature a hybrid propulsion system that runs on liquefied natural gas.

The Orient Express ship will sail the Mediterranean Riviera in summer, stopping at Portofino, Capri and Saint Tropez, and the Caribbean in winter.

Commenting on the upcoming launch, Accor Chairman and CEO Sébastien Bazin said: “With Orient Express Silenseas we are beginning a new chapter in our history by transferring the experience and excellence of luxury travel to the world’s most beautiful seas. This exceptional sailing yacht with roots in Orient Express history will offer unparalleled service and refined design spaces reminiscent of the golden age of mythical cruising. Innovation is at the heart of this state-of-the-art vessel that will revolutionize the maritime world with new technology to meet today’s sustainability challenges. It is a boat designed to make dreams come true, a showcase for the best of French savoir-faire.”
