The Secrets of Afghan Women

Sometimes the voices of Afghan women rise from the streets of Kabul and other cities in small, noisy protests. They are often heard in speeches by women who are now far away, outside of Afghanistan. But more often than not, their thoughts are only uttered quietly and in safe places. Or they fester in their heads as they try to reconcile their lives with the Taliban government’s increasingly rigid rules. They limit what women wear, where they work, what they can or cannot do with their lives.
