Birx has previously spoken about her time in the Trump administration, describing how she “always” considered quitting in a role where peers considered her “political” under the former president.
Trump, who claimed he fired Birx despite her resignation after a Thanksgiving meeting in 2020, said the former adviser’s “firing” was one of his greatest privileges before sending her a sweet message.
“I remember so well when she lectured the American people not to leave their homes for Thanksgiving and then traveled hundreds of miles to visit her family who incredibly reported her to the police. The only one who thought highly of her was herself!”
Trump’s post also linked to an article by conservative blog RedState that claimed she had “openly lied” about the COVID-19 vaccine.
Trump’s post comes after Birx accused his administration of “offering continued communications to downplay the seriousness of this pandemic,” prompting early inaction in fighting the pandemic and a false sense of security.
